you really should not need to switch them that often since it takes some time to adapt. If you were to go from 3 to 5 it would take several WOT runs or a day of driving to fully adapt anyway in most cases. If you have 93 just set to map 5 and forget it unless you have supporting mods for map 6 or 7 and the BT tool.

"Guess" or you can get a boost gauge to see how much boost you're actually running.

No sound, but its pretty straight forward and intuitive once you do it. Its hard to mess up.... but if you think you made a mistake you can just start over by holding the gas pedal down for 4 seconds to re-engage the map switching mode. The JB3 saves the last map you set so you don't have to set the map each time, only when you want to change it.

Umm...did you try http://burgertuning.com/instructions/jb3_pnp_guide.pdf

That's the first place I would look....you know..the people that actually make the JB3

IIRC, it comes out of the box on Map 3.

I feel kind of newb asking this, but do I need to physically step out of my car, lock/unlock before I repeat mapswap process? Or can I just swap map without getting out of the driver seat? Also, does closing the door interupt the process?

I was thinking about getting my car dyno'd with Map 5. I currently have Map 5 selected and figured I would do the first dyno pulls with Map 5, then drop it down to Map 0 to do a baseline. Does this sound feasible? If I drop it down to Map 0 does it take any time to adapt?

If you have RIX boost gauge there is software you can d/l to switch maps on the fly with that boost gauge.

Not directly (other than looking at the logs and knowing what is not stock, etc.). More importantly, if you have a BT, you obviously have a laptop, so you could just plug the laptop into the JB3 instead of the BT tool, and see the map that way.

Not really, but if you want a solid baseline... I'd just take the JB3 out if that's your only mod. I've heard that Map 0, while at stock boost, is still somewhat tuned.

With the JB3, map 0 is literally the stock map. Every signal is passed through without being modified. But doing a few pulls on each map is a good thing for base lines. Your plan of running map 5 first is fine.

Should I get the JB3?

Mike, I've had my 335i for two years now and the warranty will expire soon. I want to get the JB3 but i'm affraid this mod will destroy other componets of my car (Turbos, Engine, Transmission, etc...)
I guess my question is:
Is the car capable of handeling this power boost without any other mods and most important, without braking any other components?

Thanks.

Yes, as long as you run a mild map like map 3 you'll be fine. The engine can handle it no problem. The engine is detuned from the factory. Just don't be stupid and run 91 Octane with a stock car on Map 9.
