Bike vs.car

I know this is a bit OT, but the connection/good news to me is that it shows a well tuned 335i with an improved chassi may have a good chance against a modern sport bike on twisty roads .

I remember I saw a video of a ducatti and a lamborghini racing on a track..the lambo was in front for a while but once the bike had a chance to pass, the lambo didnt stand a chance

Except in this video the bike got blown away. 3 seconds on a 1:40ish track is a pretty big margin of victory for the GTR

Well, that was a wet track; that slows down a bike by tons. This is especially true when racing against an all wheel drive sports car.

this also applies to cornering. with cars, we can wait until later to jam our brakes whereas on a bike, not so much

A modern car kills most bikes (especially if the bike rider isn't that brave) around corners, but bikes kill the car in the straights and acceleration.

Honda CBR1000 RR did Nurburgring in 8:25 (autobild.de)

E92 335i did the Nurburgring in 8:26 (Sport Auto Magazine?)

E92 M3 8:05 (Sport Auto Magazine?)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring_lap_times

Motorcycles would get even more killed with tighter tracks

ahh the old debate, all depends on the course. and only in recent years could a street car do this w/o you having to spend a large fortune on the car. kinda makes me nervous - the thought of more and more insanely fast cars on the roads in the hands of who knows...
