BMW Performance: no LSD because lack of demand ! And new steering wheel...
According to this nice interview:
http://www.bimmerfile.com/2010/01/08...s-eric-riehle/ it appears that there is no demand for a LSD...is there anything we can do to increase demand ? Also, there is a new, cheaper Performance Steering wheel (which would match perfectly with my M-Sport alcantara interior )

I think a LSD from BMW would actually be cheaper than a Quaife or Wavetrac. Look at the costs for an OEM M3 LSD. It's cheaper.
Oh, and by offering a LSD, they could actually win a comparison with the Audi S4... (Power Kit + Exhaust + LSD...win)

I don't want to turn this into one of "those" threads but the new S4 is really a tough act to beat. Sure, the weight distribution isn't perfect but DCT+Torque Vectoring Rear Diff+400bhp=win.

I have the new performance steering wheel in my car and I love it! It's really really sporty and made my interior much more agressive like my exterior..

This is one of the reasons why the performance of the E9x 335i can't compare with the E46 M3. The power delivery in the E46 M3 is far superior...

And there definitely is a demand, but probably there's no demand for BMW LSD as they are inferior compared to Quaife or other well known manufacturers' LSDs. Moreover, most of BMW performance parts' price/performance ratio was always worse than other aftermarket parts manufacturers'.

Perhaps in feel, but car and driver has lap times from both cars that are nearly identical. Chalk it up to the endless march of technology.

This is my opinion...
Why the hell do they have to make a steering wheel with alcantera wrapped all over it? That stuff SUCKS and looks like complete ass after about 6 months. Perferated leather is ideal.

I do love the look and feel of the alcantara wheels. BUT as you stated, they do look quite beat up after a few months....especially if you have overactive sweat glands. Unless they have made them better somehow....we're going to have the same issues as with the e46 ZHP with the Alcantara steering wheels. Remember the dealerships having to replace a lot of them due to customer complaints about the quality of the Alcantara.

Sad.
If BMW is going to take the challenge from Audi S seriously LSD is mandatory. I love my Quaife.
