There are some DIY's for installing the oem alarm. The best one lost it's images from the poster. It is a great write up but without pictures it is not as good. I'm going to install mine. You might have to take it to a dealer to program full function to the alarm. That might cost a few hundred I believe.

Really? Your supposed to be charged for getting the alarm coded? I just installed mine and got it coded at the dealer. I didn't get charged a cent. They even updated my idrive for free.
Btw I think this is the wrong forum. |

Most dealers around the SGV charge $700- $1000 for the alarm and installation. I also think the programming is included.

I purchased my 06 7 weeks ago. I was going to install the alarm myself but after speaking with Shelly BMW in Buena Park CA they told me it was $149.00 to code it if I was to install it myself. So I asked how much to install/program it. When they told me $210.00 installed/programmed it was a no brainer. I had them install it. I bought the alarm from morristown bmw in NJ off eBay.
Good luck! EricO |

I did get a great deal. The $210.00 did not include the alarm however that was less than $250.00. Shelley BMW wanted something like that originally ($500 +) however I had the install manual with me and it stated that installation and programming takes no more than 1.5 hours. I then asked their labor rate and they said $140.00 per hour. I then argued with then saying why I would pay the amount they were trying to get when it stated 1.5 hours. I won the argument. When it deals with money I am always on top of it. I hate dealers as they are always trying to rip people off.

Yes a very good deal indeed. I would really like to get an oem factory alarm. I think I'll take your route. I did see it on ebay from Morristown BMW for $226 plus $10 shipping. Hey did you ever get a chance to meet up with Frankie90 to hear his BMW perf exhaust?
