Failing fuel pump and vacuum boost reading......

I'm assuming those two are dependent of each other? I'm almost certain that my fuel pump took a shit on me again, and ever since then, the vacuum boost reading on my Rixster boost gauge is off.

Normally, when everything's fine, the vacuum boost is at -8 or -9 at cold start up. Then when the car warms up, it when down to -17 or -18.

NOW, the boost gauge is reading vacuum boost at 2.7 or so on cold starts, even after I recalibrated it.

So I'm thinking that has to do with my failing hpfp?

Can someone chime in please?

TIA

HPFP would make no difference on this reading. I would discuss with Rick as the gauge may have an issue.

I would think that you have a kink in the boost line somewhere along the route from the interior to the engine bay..

I'll check again later, although I thought it looked fine when I had to detune my car earlier......

Also this weird boost/vacuum reading started happening after the fatal signs of failing hpfp. Before that it was reading just fine. And I haven't touched ANYTHING in the engine bay since the install of the gauge.

That's why I thought it was hpfp related......

But your not showing signs of HPFP with long cranks and codes, just the gauge is acting funny!

Oh yes I am......I got long cranks and when the car finally starts, the rpm jumps all over the tach. On top of that, my car was choking and almost died while in traffic. Also got the P142E code, which I searched and found that the code I got was hpfp related.

I'm on my 2nd hpfp btw.
