putting deposit on F10

what do you think of putting $2000 deposit down on a new F10 535xi ? good idea or bad idea? my 2007 E92 335 lease is coming to an end this feb, I called my dealer and they told me if I put $2000 deposit for a new car they would renew my lease for another 6 months. what do you guys think ?

Thanks.

Well their request for a deposit in the meantime makes sense. They are willing to extend your lease, so it's understandable that they would want to make sure you keep your word on buying a 5 (or something else) afterwards.

This won't get you an accurate understanding, but I'd consider driving a 2010 535xi and a 750i to get a potential possible feel for the new 5. At least you'll get a feeling, somewhat.

$2,000 is too much. $500 is reasonable. Negotiate the deal on X dollars over invoice plus the new lease at the BMW Buy Rate.

any of us can have our lease extended by BMW Financial, so the dealer is not doing you any special favors. So why would you put a deposit down on a car again? Keep your money, get the extension on your lease and when you are ready to buy or lease, negotiate your best deal, I usually go out to several BMW dealers in my area via internet, tell them what i want and what i want to pay over invoice. Then let them respond. Consider Euro Del, nice little discount of about 7%.

Really? I'm sorry for the information then. A few years back my dad wanted to do exactly that, and he had to put a deposit down. Perhaps BMW FS Canada and NA are different.

bdardashti you are 100 % correct. You can extend your lease with BMWFS as long as you have a production or order number on a new BMW.
