Attention 6sp drivers (CDV Deleting)
I am thinking about going with a modified CDV on my E90. While I do not have the technical expertise in doing this, I would hope that someone here would.
As a member of the BMW CCA, there is an event being hosted at BMW of Sterling (right around the corner from me) on Dec. 10th where we will have access to lifts and are able to work on our cars. I would like to see if there is any interest in members attending this event, and possibly some others who also might like to go CDV free (or atleast the modified one where it can not be detected, but has been effectively eliminated). If your interested, lets get this going... |

AJ, check with Shim...he just had his done recently. Someone, either from this forum or ECE, gave him a hand. It might be good to contact that obviosuly knowledgeable person to give you guys a hand.
Go with the dummy CDV route... Know anyone who can install my springs?

I am out of town that weekend but I HATE the CDV so if you all are successful in modifying it you can all do it to my car when I get back!

Donny, how hard could it be to install springs man? Sterling would probably lend you a compressor thing and tools. You should install them on the 10th. I'm guessing techs will be on hand too so nobody kills themselves in their shop
We could all lend a hand. And then we can all go ice skating at Reston and let Dani show us how it's done. |

Lose your CDV, you'll be much happier for it. While you're add it, get the Rogue Engineering Short Shifter Kit (comes with pass through CDV). Awesome combo! Luckily Rogue's HQ is only an hour from me in NJ. Bimmerworld in Reston, VA is a Rogue retailer and will sell you the SSK and install it for you. Ok, sorry to lurk in your geographic forum, but I'm such a proponent of removing the CDV that I had to post.

I drove Shim's 330i ZHP with and without the clutch stop post-CDV...and it really made engagement easier I recommend the clutch stop as well....

Its Dec 10th... a sunday... But Im all about going CDV free at this meet. The rest of you that are interested in doing this might want to become BMW CCA members prior to the event... You need to be a member to use the facilities... |
