"Even more intuitive: iDrive with Programmable Memory Keys
The new BMW 3 Series Convertible features BMW’s trendsetting iDrive system to control the Navigation, Climate, Entertainment, and Communication functions. The new monitor automatically adjusts to ambient light conditions and is positioned in a perfect ergonomic arrangement in the instrument panel.

New to the 3 Series Convertible are eight Programmable Memory Keys on the dashboard that serve to simplify operation and control. Two of the eight keys allow quick access to AM or FM radio stations and control the music source. The remaining six can be programmed for favorite items such as navigation destinations, radio stations or even telephone numbers. The keys are touch-sensitive: each respective function is clearly presented on the iDrive display as soon as the driver places his or her finger on the button. "

man, maybe i should have waited to get my e92, those programable buttoms sound like a great addition to the iDrive system

and it looks like they changed the back seat divider, there is a new split compartment

I don't understand why they didn't put that iDrive system with the programmable buttons into the E92 coupe as well. It is going to be in the new X5.

My regular source says it will definitely be in MY2008. However, people on the net have suggested it may happen as early as April 2007.

debut in jan 07 at detroit show.

Will first appear in Jan at detroit international show, I was hoping for a los angeles showing in December to get a close look, but now I will have to wait yet again.
Gonna go get a deposit down as soon as I can, I am hoping the colors for the cabrio are a bit different than the coupe. Montego blue too light for me, monaco blue to dark.
Excited about how it turned out though!! Just bummed it will be 55k or so fully loaded at best.

Oh, I thought it was going to be buttons around the idrive knob like in the audi. I remember two years ago longing for a volume control and a back button around the knob.

Why? Its an "improvement". Sort of how the 335 is an improvement over last years 330. It wasn't ready in time for the E92s production date.

For what its worth I mentioned these buttons would be in the E93 early August before any E92's had arrived.

They should've rather delayed i-Drive/NAV since they did for RTTI integration anyway and implemented new keys for both e93 and e92 coupe altogether...JMO fellas...seems like a lack of good planning....

Not to start an argument, but... Why stop there? Why not wait for the new I-Drive coming with the 7-series refresh. You have to draw the line somewhere, and it just didn't make the cut.

Everyone's got own opinion -- e92 Nav & e93 launches are way too damn close. Take a chill pill my friend

Agree.

Every new model will bring new additions - it's plain logic - on one side there are innovation that were not available at the time they released the previous version, and on the other hand it's a marketing tool to keep selling these babies like hot cakes.

Even the the E90 released this year has some (subtle) improvements over the ones released last year, specially software related.
