Tow Bar

Bit of an odd one this, but can a tow bar be fitted to an M3 (E90)

I want to use a car trailer so going to need something?

Why would I want to mot/tax & insurance something just for towing a trailer?

Don't understand "M3's were not made for it" it's got 4 wheels and an engine so it can tow can't it?

wow

if you have money for a "LOTUS TRACK CAR" I think you should find a little extra flow to pay for proper car to tow the "TRACK CAR"

Not talking mega bucks for the track car, but I can see the M3 police will be out in force now so I'll just run and hide!

i get the same comments with my car (even though i am not looking for a tow bar )...
i dont see why a M3 couldnt tow a trailer... sure it wasnt designed with that in mind, but if you dont exceed the GVWR (or whatever it is in England), i dont really see an issue...
if you cant find one, get it custom-made

If you do in fact wind up using your M3 as a tow truck, please post some pics. Would love to see it.

And oh yes, the M3 police will be out in full force once they read this. You should definitely run and hide.

Was also planning on towing my caravan as well

Guess I'll have to go and buy an oil burner then

Do you have manual or DCT??? If DCT I dont recommend using it for towing.

On another note you seem to have alot of mods... do you have any pics anywhere on here?

Hi Donbona,

Re the tow bar mine is 6MT, but I ONLY posed the question.....not really going through with it, though it wouldn't bother me if I did depends if the car I get for track will be a road runner or not.

go ahead and fit a towbar. I used to have a good laugh towing my (rather large) speed boat around with a sappire cosworth with around 350HP. I got some very strange looks, nobody expects you to keep up with the traffic towing a boat or other trailer. Its a lot more fun than towing with an under powered car.

buy an old tranny van. Its not just towing the car, you need somewhere to carry all the bits - spare tyres/wheels, tools, hemet and gear , cooker, genny etc etc...

and the tranny doubles up as a caravan for overnighters ....
