2009 E90 LCI - Rear bumper slots

Hi all,

Ive bought an M Sport rear bumper for my car.

The little holes at the sides which allow it to clip on to the car are mainly broken.
I understand that its very difficult to get the bumpers off without breaking these rectangular holes.

question is - has anyone fixed these little holes before refitting?

If so, how did u fix them?

Any tips? Also any tips for changing the bumper?

Thank you all once again, some very helpful people on this site!

Regards

Andy

I have had that part off my car, and the clips were tight. But if your careful they don't break.....
I suggest if they are broken, to try and plastic weld back on with soldering iron, or if thats not possible, maybe zip ties might work??

Brace them from underneath with strips of plastic held together with Araldite, use clothes pegs to hold in situ until cured.

Try heating up a junior hacksaw blade until it's red hot, and then passing the blade through the tear. It will, probably, weld it back up.

If you can't ge them to lay flat, though, they might get in the way.

And it is possible to get the rear bumper off without braking them (I managed it only breaking one).

Thanks for the responses gents!

I think I will try a bit of araldite with a bit of tiewrap as a starter and see where we go!

I never removed the bumper, but once it gets painted, I will be removing my SE bumper and fitting this one.

Question - does anyone have any pictures or can describe how these slots hold the bumper on and why they break? Its difficult to tell why this happens and I havent seen how its mounted.

If I could visulalise it, I could maybe figure out how to stop them breaking on the SE bumper I take off!

Cheers

andy
