Blown SWS-8?

Ok so I did th SWS-8 install about 2 months ago and one of my subs have been rattling. I think this has to do with one of my idiot friends pulling on the cone. I don't think it's blown because when I turn the music up, the rattling goes away. I think the cone/dustcap separated from the spider/magnet. Is there any way I can fix it? I know they have coil repair kits but I think my coil is fine and that I just need to glue the cone/dustcap back to the spider/magnet.

Bump...Anyone experience anything like this? Btw today the sub kept cutting in and out. When it did play it was rattling 50% of the time. But then all of a sudden it sounds fine then just as surprisingly it stops playing.

You need smarter friends..

Dust caps don't cause a speaker to stop playing.

If you need to glue the cap back on, glue the cap back on... but no, to answer your last question, mine are fine.

Yea I know that. It just protects the speaker from dust. The cap is still glued to the cone but how does the cone connect to the rest of the speaker? I've tried to find subwoofer diagrams on how they are made but I can't find a definite answer. I think the cone with the dust cap still attached is separated from the rest of the speaker. When I push down on the cone/dustcap it will start to play but then when I release pressure it stops. Maybe a connection was soldered poorly? Idk I'm in the process of talking with the vendor who sold it to me and if he can't help then I guess I'll call Earthquake and see what they have to say.

You're gonna have to get it reconed. It's apparently a torn voice coil to terminal connection, and I highly doubt it's a bad solder, it sounds like it was damaged. Make your friend pay for the reconing.
