Depends what you want to use the watch for. Go to gym for a workout and leather straps are completely useless, while metal straps eventually get gummed up and are a pain to clean. With rubber a quick shower or rinse under the tap and you're good to go. Similar situation on the beach, in hot humid climates, swimming, gardening and indeed any strenuous activity that gets you sweating. Rubber straps have their place
