Why would you want to do that on a 05 320i ?? Unless you have a lease car with no paid for servicing its madness.

If you did you would invalidate the warranty. Unless you don't care about the warranty I would advise that you pay for the service.

Reseting a service indicator will NOT invalidate a warranty, only failing to have it serviced in accordance to the service schedule will.

If you've serviced it yourself - you've already invalidated the warranty. But if you've taken it to a VAT registered garage (who have to use BMW parts) then they should reset it for you. Its their job to do that.

Why on earth do you want to tamper with a car that is still in warranty?

If heavyend doesn't want to service the car when the car is telling him to do so he/she will end up invalidating the warranty anyway.

Ah that would explain why. I thought you were planning on servicing the 05 plate E90 now. Hence the reference to madness.....

I'm sure once all the aftermarket stuff kicks out there will either be a sequence of buttons to push or something to plug into the OBDC socket to reset the service indicator.

You can do it with the staks and and odo reset button. I've done it on E39 E90 and Z4. Can't remember how bet Google video is your friend; Its quite a good idea to do it actually because then you will have the computers service indicator in line with your receipts! Lastly I'm pretty sure that your car likes to know its being given TLC

Sorry, I cannot continue responding to avoid the tread creator's fury.
I just thought that 11 years after, the information and help could be shared with people who need it like me.
I just needed to learn how to reset with the stalk, the "Service Engine Soon" not the "service engine".
I apologize and will try a new tread; but feel free to help me in private message.
Peace, and respect. 🙏😊
