My new order...
well, I think Im finally going to bite the bullet. I have been tossing around quite a few ideas over the past month or so. Here is my reasoning and options I will be looking at:
335 sedan, sparkling graphite/black cow/aluminum, sport, prem, heated seats, idrive First of all - sedan over coupe - This is a car that I want to last for a very long time. There is the possibility that over my ownership of this car that I might become married and possibly have a child (good God... not yet though...). While the new coupe has really grown on me, I can not justify owning the coupe if I plan to own the car for 6-10 years. The 335 coupe is also out of my price range. Im just not willing to take on that much in payments... Second - Color choices - I would kill for montego and saddle on the sedan, but just not possible. I want something thats easier to keep clean (exterior wise). I love the monaco blue when its clean, but its a bitch to keep clean (especially when its parked outside). Montego blue just doesnt look the same on a sedan, and I dont think I would be as pleased with it. Third - Options - Basically the same car I have now with idrive added to it. Ive been wanting it since delivery, so Im going to do it right this time around. After some careful thinking, I dont want CA or rear shades or PDC. They are nice, but not worth the money. Fourth - Mods - I will keep the interior Msport mods I have. I will also keep the rear happy robot mod. I will certainly add the ipod adaptor (and integration with idrive would be great). Other than adding a tint, the car would probably be mod free... (tman, you can purchase the euros and acs rear spoiler if you want). The only thing thats bugging me about the choice is the lack of color options with the E90. Yes, I want that montego/saddle combo, but its not worth it IMO. Not that it will make a huge difference in my choice, but Im just curious with your opinions with this move... If I order, I will probably place the order this weekend... |

car specs sounds good...great call on the color, but I may be biased
But seriously, did you consider a rarer color combo, SG is great and all but its a little too common. Not sure if you're ok or will be ok with that down the road...something to think about. What about TiAg/Terra/Alu or Arctic/Black/Alu or Sparkling Graphite/Terra/Burl or Sapphire Black/Lemon/Poplar or even Montego/Terra/Alu?

Nice to see you just going for it and getting what you want.
As someone who is a few years ahead of you -- married and with children -- I will offer this. If you want the coupe, don't count it out. Even if you get engaged today, you won't be married for at least a year, then won't have kids for a few years, then your kids won't be big for a few more years and in the meantime you'll have a larger car for your wife and the kids, anyway. Just a thought if you want something that really feels different from what you have now (besides the engine, I mean). I won't comment on options or colors except that I'm a huge believer in CA. Best of luck with the order!

Arctic is not for me. I wont go black becuase of how hard it is to keep clean. I realize how 'run of the mill' Sparkling Graphite is, but I would be ok with that combo. |

I realize that timeframe, and how much I could still pull off the coupe. I would just rather be more practical and have 4 doors. For me, it was either CA or the ipod integration. I would much rather have the integration. |

So what if you don't get married...??? Do you think you would regret not having a coupe if that is what you want more? And I like the options/color combo on the car. Who cares if it is common as long as you like it. Hell there are only so many int/ext color combos you can have. There are going to be people with the exact same thing no matter what you get.

Congrats on your choice. I'd have to say Ipod integration is a better option than CA. I don't mind hitting buttons on my FOB.
I have the 335i coupe black, and yes it is a pain to keep clean, but I love the look. If you really love the monaco blue I'd say stick with it. Or Silver is another option... |

Do they do iPod integration as a factory option now, or do you have to get the car built, then opened up again to put it in? That would seem like such a waste.

I love your choices. You described my car to the very option and color. You must be very smart. I just hit 1200 miles a week ago and can finally start opening her up a little. It's awesome. I am now deliberating over new wheels to get for winter. Not too many options in 17-inch wheels for a 335. The tirerack JH3's are gone now.
Let us know what you decide. |

Nice color and spec choice. I personally prefer the Tiag over the graphite, but hey, it's your car.
Let me know about the "parts" when you're ready. I'm out of town for Thanksgiving (on my first long road trip to Toronto). Give me a shout next week.

Glad to see you're finally coming to your senses! :0) Anywho, the color choice is great, even though it's very popular. Sparkling Graphite is a beautiful color and there's a definite reason why it's so popular.
I agree with Brian though, in stating that the coupe may not be as impractical right now as one may think. Plus it's so good looking!!! IPOD integration is a great choice but I am an avid fan of CA. I don't like having to take my keys out of my pockets now and putting it into the ignition. Not that it's a big hassle or anything, but kyou know that when you're spoiled, you don't wanna go back. As for PDC, that is the one HUGE HUGE HUGE option I regret not getting. It's so cheap and if you're getting NAVI, it adds to it so much! It's only $350 more. You say that now about mods but even the strongest of individuals in this forum have given into mods. GL with it though. I think your making an excellent choice here AJ. GL with it and congrats!! BTW, are you doing ED?

Yeah I am T, PDC is only $350 and might come useful on the nights you drive down to town to party...and its cool with the i-drive. Go for it!
But knowing AJ, he has precluded PDC not for its functionality but rather his legendary OCDness over the little sensor bumps on the rear bumper I'll stay with the sedan, I think it looks more balanced (esp when modded) and it makes it easier to transport drunken socialite girls

I dont think im going to do PDC partly because of the sensors . I also think that its wasted money. I learned how to drive and park in NY without them, and I feel I am great in any parking situation without the sensors... The 335 sedan well optioned like I have it is really at the top of my price range. I like the looks of the coupe, but the 335 coupe with the same options is out of my price range. I would have to go to the 328 coupe to go with it. Yes, it looks good, but I dont know... I think I would be much happier with the sedan. HSU, I will probably be ordering from BMW of Sterling. I live very close to them, and have had nothing but a great experience dealing with them. They often will price match Passports pricing on a car. My old CA is not at the dealership anymore, but I actually ended up ordering it through Mohammad Abugideiri. I am going to give him a call today to set up a test drive for the 328 and 335. They have a 335 coupe (6sp) on the lot, so Im hoping to take that one out this weekend when Im back in town... BK... CA does not do the auto fold and windows up like the 2006's??? I will certainly not be getting the option if thats the case. 90% of the reason why I would want it is to auto fold the mirrors just by pressing on the handle to lock. By the way, I did see a 335 coupe with 230's on it at the dealership (customer owned car). Those wheels are amazing!!! The other thing I can not get over is how large those brake rotors and calipers are on the 335... Much larger than my skimpy brakes on the 325 (and I think my car has good brakes ) |
