Worlds first N55 datalogs!!

BMS rigged up a JB3 to their new N55 to get properly acquainted I knew it was going to happen quickly but not this fast LOL Car has less then 60miles on it and its already been ripped apart. Can't say too much but I though you guys would find these logs interesting. Two are 3rd gear 2-6k and the last a 2-3 run. Looks like the stock ECU is generally targeting about 9psi but somewhat sloppily.

Now for the bad news... It looks like the JB+, SSTT, and other TMAP tunes are not compatible. In fact, at least early on it looks like the boost control system is completely different than the N54 and basically everyone will be starting from square one again.

Let the race begin

Wow!

Nice info.....

Goes to show what a great job the tuners are doing with boost control when the stock ones look so erratic.

But then again....BMW is targeting boost to keep power at a constant level

Whereas the tuners are managing things to make as much power as possible

Major to Terry!

Does JB3 effectively produce any gains for the N55 motor? Or is it just datalogging for now?

The stock boost looks "erratic" because it adjust constantly such that the power (in fact torque) applied out to the ground is perfectly linear. You don't want a smooth boost curve; You want smooth power applied to the ground.

The piggybacks (at least some of them) have linear boost curves because they don't know the "torque target" which is the amount of torque the car needs to keep linear power delivery on the ground. So they model it somehow.

At least that's my understanding of the matter.

This is great.
I'm interested in how this is going to turn out because I think that the BMW V8 TT is harder than expected for the piggies.
I'm curious if this is using the same technology.

yeah id like to see some dyno numbers on the N55 too!!! im curious to see if it is underrated like the N54 was. i mean, its gotta be underrated a bit if it can keep up with the outgoing N54 cars.

most reviews ive seen seems to indicate that these two engine as very similar in power and responsiveness.
