steering wheel lock malfunction while driving?
hi, my 06 330xi had the steering column replaced and reprogrammed about 2 years ago.
nothing has gone wrong since, however today, while driving, stuck in a traffic jam, all of a sudden 'steering wheel lock', do not turn off your car, your car cannot start warning shows up on idrive and dash. (something along those lines was the warning, i forgot the whole message). the symbol was a steering wheel with a padlock w/ the number 1 inside the lock. after flashing for about 5 seconds, it disappears and doesn't show up under 'check controls'. ive tried to do a search to see if anyone else has encountered the problem, is this just a one time electrical glitch? or will this cause troubles down the line. Ive turned off the car once and started it up again, and no error happened. thanks Last edited by max_asdf; 04-27-2010 at 06:55 PM.. |

Chalk it up to a glitch unless it happens again. Depending on your mileage and if you're out of warranty or not, hopefully the dealer will be able to fix it for you. Especially since it was already replaced once. It's common on the '06s.

I haven't had a problem yet on my '06 330xi. Knock on wood.
