Will the 1M be more powerful than 350HP?

Do we have any speculation on how powerful the new ///1M will be?

Reason being is this 350hp mule being tested...

I'm guessing around that figure, 340-360hp. Doubtful it would be more than 360 that's for sure.

Actually, they said we'd never have the RS5 in the US either, but they're now bringing it here. I think we'll start to see more (if not all) of the RS models here.

Is the US getting the M1? Has that been confirmed?

Someone on the board--might have been Levi--did a comparision based on HP to weight ratio, and if the ///M1 were to be roughly equiv to the ///M3, then it would come in right around 3300 pounds and 350-360 BHP, if I remember correctly.

SCOTT has also said that the ///M1 will not "tread on the toes of the M3", which has led a lot of folks to believe that the car will end up in this 350-360 range......

340 hp if that's the same engine as in the TT RS. It would be a nice car in the US, but the price would be crazy. A loaded A3 will cost you $37k. Presumably an RS would be $45-50+ which would make for one heck of an expensive hatchback, but Audi is famous for uber-priced racing wagons.

My guess is the weight will stay exactly the same. BMW's rationale will be that they lightened the car(no sunroof, etc) and then added a few things that contribute to weight(heavier wheels, LSD, etc.) I would be fine with that since most cars that get a bump in power also gain weight.

It has to be >350 hp. I think 400 is the best we can hope for but 360-380 is my expectation. The M is not just about hp, it is about better suspension, LSD and aggressive sounding exhaust. The total package will give you a race car feel and this is what I expect from M treatment.

I highly doubt they will make the 1M so powerful, 350 at most. The 1 already has more TQ than the m3, and getting it closer in terms of HP woudl be ridiculous on their part. Unless if there are some SERIOUS drawbacks in the 1M over the M3.

Also, i think audi WILL end up bringing the RS3 if BMW brings the 1M

Scott says 345PS if I'm not mistaken so I'd guess no more than 350hp. In typical BMW fashion it could very well be underrated.

New speculation:

Very far from M3.

A standard 135i is 3373 lbs and 300 HP and 300TQ.

A standard E92 M3 is 3704 lbs and 414HP and 295TQ.

If the 1M has shaved a few pounds which according to Scott the M engineers have done. (If that makes it to production or not who knows)

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...88#post7159088

I would guess the new 1M would come in around 340-360 HP.

THe Audi has about .000012 chance of being sold in the US, so for the NA market its no competition. Now a Golf R with APR Stage IV might be a good comparison with the M1, but both cars are not for sale here yet.

Reason I'm guessing low ~320hp is due to the fact that it has been stated many times that this car has to be slower than the M3. What I'm thinking is that this car will have all of the handling enhancements (lsd, wider track, better brakes, weight savings) but only a modest bump in power. It shouldn't matter though, as tweaking HP out of the N54 is no big deal.

Except that it won't be an N54.

Scott indicates a variation of N55 that will ultimately find its way into the F30 M3.
