Audi TT "Drive.com.au" car of the year

Has anyone driven this new Audi TT? http://www.drive.com.au I haven't but the 2L turbo is quite fun at least in a VW Jetta. Anyone considered the TT over a Z4 or another BMW model? Just interested. The 3 series coupe gets critisized for it's run flats, iDrive and cost at least by this panel.

I havn't driven the car but heard from my mate in Italy that it is a very fun car to drive, great feel (steering wheel looks sexy). I was actually very serious about getting the 3.2L V6. 5.7 sec 0-100 isn't bad at all. For me it has always been between this car or the 335coupe. I have opted to go for the 335 but i would definately recommend anyone to choose the AUDI TT over the Z4.

I had a quick look at the Drive site and the 335 was in the luxury car class over $60,000. I noticed a comment, the Merc had a more difficult system than I Drive.
I am not an Audi fan but it certainly looks the part. I am happy with my decision.

I like the comment from the reviewers that the only reason you'd but the 335 is under the bonnet and on the bonnet!

You have to remember that Drive's audience is not what you'd call hard core car enthusiasts. In a short piece on the 335i in today's Herald Drive liftout, they carp about idrive, lack of storage space and the size of the side mirrors for god's sake. They also reckon the auto "keeps the turbo (sic) on the boil a little better". Sure thing guys : did you actually bother changing gears on the MT??

TT is no doubt a vastly improved car, now it's based on the latest and finest Golf GTI running gear, but there' still only one Audi that can convincingly take it to the best Bimmers, and that's the RS4 IMHO.

For some reason every car critics have only talked about how good the engine is. The wheels mag said very little about looks. This months issue of MOTOR has a review about 335. I am going to buy that mag today and see what they said about this sexy beast of car.

Well said Nick G. Although i realise i now have a BMW bias to support my decision to buy BMW. Prior to placing my order i considered all cars availiable or soon to be availiable including the Audi range. In my case the performanceof the 335i turbo engine stood out then everything else fell into place.

i havn't had time to go find a dealer that would give me a bit of a price cut.

The ability of the AWD (QUATTRO) is amazing as all wheels have power therefore asserts more control on corners. This is what my friend said. He used to own a Z3 and was very fond of it until the new AUDI TT.
I hope this cleared it up for you Scheps.

(GREAT REVIEW of the car)

trivett and sydney bmw seem good, probably due to the volume they move, they can afford to be a bit kinder with the pricing... but if you order in january, atleast you will have an 07 build!!!

So that comparison your friend made between z3 and tt may not stand for z4 vs tt

or did you mean your friend had a z4?

Anyway, trying to find some free time to go test it .. wonder if the quattro is worth the extra $$$$

My friend in Italy had a Z3 and he had wanted to get the new Z4 like you. He went and test drove both the new tt and Z4 coupe and ended up buying a new 3.2L tt. I think his comparison was with both z3 and z4 against the new tt. He loves the new tt. CLEAR NOW

If you are comparing the Z4 coupe and TT I'd suggest you to go for the TT.
Too bad you are in brisbane...otherwise we together can get a good deal...

for the last question: AUDI A3 TFSI QUATTRO
