Question Which price do you calculate residual from?

I saw a post on this somewhere, but can't find it.

When doing a ED, is the dealer supposed to calculate the residual off of the ED price or the MSRP? I hear the dealer can slight the unsuspecting customer in this area.

So some numbers from my 335 with options to use. Which number is the residual calculated off of for ED?

US Invoice $45,975
US MRSP $49,965

ED Incvoice $43,365
ED MSRP $47125

Thanks

So for doing a Euro Delivery where I am getting the 335 for $44,335 (1k over invoice), I should base the 36 month residual of 60% on the us MSRP of $49,965? That sounds like a good deal to me.

Thanks Irv. I'm a little dubious that I'll get any dealer except maybe you to calculate it with all the correct numbers. I haven't actually decided anything yet though. I'm still debating if I actually like the car. I'm trying to decide if I like it more than my G35 coupe. I know this is the wrong thing to say on a BMW forum, but I think my G35 looks sexier and turns more heads. Nothing against the 335, its just has a bit of a more conservative, refined look to it. Its a fine car in its own right, just different.

With those numbers and if I'm calculating everything right, I can lease a $50k 335 for 2 years for less than I was paying for my $38k G35 lease with the same $1k down. It does certainly help make the offer tempting!
