Question From Munic to Athen

What happened , if i drive from Munic to Athen with the Navigation System ? I can activate the Destination (Athen) , but all the Countrys between the Austria Border and the Greece Border are not in the newest Navigation System. In Slowenia it is not so easy to drive trough , because they have a lot of road works and so on and i can drive multiple ways to reach the Destination. But i want the shortest .

Perhaps someone can give me an answer

You drive to Venice and you then take the boat to the port of Patras in
Greece. Then you drive from Patras to Athens.

Exactly, the money saved by using the boat, as well as the security (you are not passing through troubled places in some countries) was enough to convince me to do so. Still, in a European navigation DVD I would expect to include these places in some extend too! Also, if you time your trip right, you can spend the night in the boat, this way you will not have to stop in a gas station and sleep with the engine running for only some hours (and not very comfortable ones)!

Plus your insurance wouldn't cover you for some of the countries you would have to drive through iirc.

I think some of you guys are exaggerating a bit! Eastern Europe is quite a safe place nowadays and especially places like Slovenija, Serbia, Croatia, Czech, Slovakia, Poland, HUngary, etc. are quite OK to travel to.
But as everywehere you can get to a strange place there as well

I'm not exagerating... just my insurance company. IIRC they won't even cover Poland in-case for theft. I know plenty of insurance companies in Germany that won't even cover a German Porsche coming to The Netherlands because of theft !

The best way to do it is to drive from Munich to Ancona.
From Ancona you take the Ferry to Igoumenitsa and then all the way down to Athens.
I've done this 3-4 times. Its the quickest and most enjoyable route.

Have a nice trip

Now i know it .
The Navigation System shows you the beeline and the quarter to your destination that you have activated .And it shows you the time around of your Arrival.

i know they made some pretty good roads id croatia last years. in my opinion i dont think its so dangerous in ex yugoslavia now days as it was 10 or 5 years ago . not to mention that if i recall right from austrian border to thesaloniki is around 1000 km. i think u can do it in daylight which is much safer.if u drive in slovenia around 5 am its posible to go out for a drink on the coast road at salonika by night.
I ve heard people going from gothemburg ,sweden to salonika in 22 hours with a 993 porsche .no sleep though
