e92 suspension - extremely hard impact over bumps

There are lots of nice twisty roads around my house, but every once in a while you get a surprise dip/bump in the road. Unfortunately they seem to always be in the apex of an awesome sweeping turn.

My question is: These bumps rear their ugly heads when my suspension is already substantially compressed from the turn and acceleration out of the turn. When I hit them it feels like the bump causes my car to reach the "end" of the suspension... and the impact just jars the car. Kind of like slamming a rock on the ground... I assume there are stops or something that are causing this, but what is really going on? Is this damaging to the car, or just annoying when it happens?

If your car still drives fine/straight afterwards, then I would doubt any damage occurred. However, it's simply more wear and tear on your cars suspension parts.
