How does European delivery pricing work? (MSRP vs. Invoice)

Hello, for my next (335i) purchase, I am thinking about taking delivery in Germany. Can anyone tell me:

1. Even though the Euro price is listed as approximately $3,000 below the US MSRP price, is it still "negotiable?" In other words, am I comparing a "Euro MSRP" to "US MSRP," and should I try to negotiate closer to a "European Invoice Price?" For example, let's say the US MSRP, with options, is $45,000. The equivalent european price is approximately $42,000. Could I have first negotiated $1,000 off of the US MSRP price (to $44,000), and then arrive at $41,000 for European delivery?

2. After taking delivery in Europe, will I have to pay for any part of the shipment costs, or are there other hidden costs? I figure my round trip airfare will cost between $600 and $900 around April '07. So the net savings would be just over $2,000, as long as there are no transport costs involved.

Thanks

I recommend that you do a search on European Delivery and all your answers and more will be answered. Also check out bimmerfest.com, there's a while ED Forum there.

To quickly answer your questions, do not use US MSRP or ED MSRP. Strictly use the ED invoice and work up from there. You can find the pricing pdf at the top of this Forum as a sticky.

No other additional or hidden charges. Everyone pays the $695 destination charge (shipping) regardless if it's ED or US delivery.

Only additional charge would be if you decide to keep the car in Europe longer than the 2-weeks that BMW provides free insurance for.

On my recent ED 335i Coupe purchase, I took the invoice ED price and the sticker ED price and split the difference with the dealer. They made $1700 on the deal, after required advertising expenses. I saved $1700.

Why?

You should have paid ED or LESS not in between giving the dealer additional profit....

ED invoice +1200 is a reasonable deal. No MACO or training fees. That's it; no shipping or anything else. Check the ED section.

True. Based on the original example, your purchase price should be around 40,000 if you work up from the ED invoice.

Also note that the lease numbers would look sweet since you use the US 45k msrp to compute the residual. good luck

On jan 05 I ordered my 335 using the ED price. I not only got the ED price but also 1800 off ED MSRP price. I have no clue what you guys talk over maco expenses and/or training fees. Anyways as I order the car the US MSRP would be $45,220 but my dealer left it at $40,500. I would go to different dealers . Also, if i got an offer from a dealer I'd go to another reducing all the fees and MSRP on some of these dealers this worked (fairly reduction I went for a lease and searched Money factors current down payment most members gave and made some numbers up). I went to 5 dealers and most of them just charged me the same thing Training Profit BS BS. I am glad that one person out this forum recommended VISTA BMW here in ft. lauderdale FL. I drove for almost 1.5 hrs and 1 hr latter I had all the papers signed.

I just bought my tickets....and I'm just waiting impacient for my march 20th delivery...

In addition to a great selling price, get an out the door price and ask the doc fee amount and if they have any other fee.In Illinois the doc fee is 58.44,nothing else except tax, title and license.

I'm trying to put together a quick ED trip to pick up an EE93 hopefully in early May. Finding a local dealer that is willing to start at ED invoice is proving to be challenging. Irv is a straight shooter and I may do business with him even though it means a trip to Chicago to pick up my car when it is redelivered to the US. ED plus $1000-1200 seems to be a reasonable deal. I am waiting to see how much difference this will mean as compared to a stateside PCD.
