2007 X3 Manual Transmission Noise

I recently purchased an X3 with just under 50,000 kms.
The manual is nice to drive however 1st to second is disconcerting....
Although it does not occur every shift, more often than not there is a clunk when the clutch is released after the shift. BMW techs have looked at and said it is fine, however I am sensing this issue is not normal at all....
Does anyone have any similar findings with the manual?

Yes I get a disconcerting jerk and rumble in first and second...
Cant make out if it is transmission or engine but it does not happen in other gears a same revs>>

Its most likely driveline lash. A common occurrence with Manuals and RWD/AWD. I have the same issue in my 335i, and I had it in my 2003 Corvette Z06 and 2004 Caddy CTS-V

What helps eliminate some of the noise in the BMW is the deletion of the clutch delay valve. You might want to look into getting that done, best mod for the manual and it will only cost you about 20 bucks (if you are handy)

That is drivetrain lash.
Have the same issue, and it is normal on 4wd manual BMW's.

Hi. I had the same issue with my X3. It was pretty bad, but after changing the oil at the dealer, somehow it almost went completely away. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the oil change, but it's a lot better than it used to be.
