Who wants to see my Dyno?

Crank HP and Torque

I have the print out of the Dyno I just got. Its 238.3 PS and 286.1 Nm. When you convert that its 235.04 HP and 210.99 lb/ft. The only shity thing is I don't have a stock dyno so I don't know what gains my intake gave me. If it were 230 HP and 200 lb/ft for a stock dyno then that would be an awesome 5.04 HP and 10.99 lb/ft gain.

That's an excellent power curve and a more useful power-band than a n54. How many miles do you have on your 128?

This really makes me wonder if our engines aren't underrated by BMW - the fact that the only mod on your car is an intake and your dyno is reading 235 hp & 211 lb/ft of tq at the wheel is amazing. I would think that powertrain losses would have you somewhere just south of 200 hp. Am I missing something?

Wow there cowboy. This dyno shows at the crank NOT the wheels. Yes our engines are underrated but so are the n54's. I like the NA more...to an extent. Our other parts are making me a little worried though. The tranny is different than the 130 as is our intake manifold. Our crank is different than than the 135. All these make me a little worried about the potential of our 128's. I want power gains but I also want the car to survive 200k miles as well. I mean at least untill I get my next car. I plan on keeping this baby as long as I can.

I think this will be a good basis for comparison after you get your exhaust and finally ECU tune.

I'm also concerned about how my 125i will do given that it also has a 'lower spec' transmission and intake... the german tuners do promise alot though!

235.04 HP and 210.99 lb/ft on rear wheels from a 230 HP and 200 ft-lb rated car is PURELY phenomenal, provided the shop didn't use some weird algorithm to boost stuff up. Normally bone stock, you would expect barely 200HP to the wheels.

Read the whole thread. It's at the crank, they probably take the whp and convert it.

lol its ok. I sure we will get a lot of those posts because you don't usually see a crank hp dyno print out.

Yup. I went with initial post. It actually got me really excited. Wish 230 was at wheels.

Yeah, my first reaction was "WHAT... 230 at the wheels?? With just an intake?"

Would probably be better to know the real whp numbers though, because no crank conversion is ever really 100% accurate. Unless you took your engine block out and dyno'd it, lol...

True but if I always get the crank numbers then it's great for comparison when I get the exhaust and tune.

I don't know what it is at the wheels. But really it wouldn't matter to me. As long as I know i'm getting an increase I'm happy. I just wish I video taped it because the car sounded awesome with the intake.
