2007 335i Chip

Hey guys, i was kinda trying to see if i could find a "Chip" for the 335i yesterday when i came upon this website through RSportscars.com/cartuners, does anyone have any info on this place? or any other location that provides ECu's for the 335i would be appreciated. Thx.

Here is the Link:

http://www.tuner.at/produkte_chiptun...832&chip=22848

***They Claim that the speed will be 290 kmh from 250 (175mph)

***They Claim that the Fuel Consumption would be better
from:9.5L/100km to: 9.3L/100km

*** 0-100kmh is 0-62mph, they rounded to 100 kmh, just like we round it
To 0-60 mph, which pretty much means, for us, 0-60 not 0-62, would be around 4,8sec

BMW 335i overheating

So, Dyno-Comp is a local company, in Scottsdale, Arizona, not too far from where I live.

Today, I decided to call them about the BMW 335i ECU upgrade, see below. I talked to their salesman Ryan. It went something like this:

"Ryan, I would like to inquire about the upgrade for the BMW 335i. Can you please tell me if it's a future project or a production project that I can purchase now?"

Ryan: "Let me check with the tech department before I tell you something that is not correct."

He gets back to me a minute later...

Ryan: "We have the technology to reprogram the ECU but the project has been put on hold. It will not be available for a while."

Me: "Why is that?"

Ryan: "We have been consulting with BMW on this project and on their advise put the project on hold because the car overheats."

Me: "Well, do you have someone in the shop that can explain to me why the car overheats?"

Ryan: "Nope, talk to BMW. This is coming from them."

End of conversation. Ahem, this subject has been kicked around by us and by others, on other forums, with 90% of the responses supporting the idea that the car does NOT overheat. Yet, here we have a company with a product on hold because BMW says the car overheats.

Please feel free to check out the website and give them a call to ask. Maybe they pulled one over me. Oh, and please don't "overheat" on me... this was the answer I least expected myself.

The stuff below is from their website at:

Some posts regarding XEDE on another board:

""I would not buy an XEDE (213 views)

Message: The power gains were lovely (it was the only solution besides recoding the immobilizer and flashing the ECU with ECUTeK), but I had problems with it:

When I wasn't at wide open throttle, the XEDE had issues interfering with the stock ECU. The XEDE is a piggyback computer that modifies the signals that the stock ECU receives in order to trick it into making more power. It did make power, but it impacted the drivability of the car significantly.

I couldn't climb a hill in 6th gear without the car pulling timing, "bucking" as the engine seemed to knock/detonate, and throwing a "Check Engine" light. It happened when the car dipped into boost while climbing the hill under partial throttle. The ECU goes nuts as the XEDE clicks in and out of operation as the car dips into/out of boost.

I would wait until there is a better solution such as an actual reflash to the stock ECU. Perhaps they have fixed the problems with the XEDE in the 335i implementation, but I am not comfortable with the "piggyback" nature of the XEDE (especially considering the 335i ECU is probably even more complex than the STi's)."""

""Re: I would not buy an XEDE (78 views)

Message: Let the kids play! The damn car is fast enough as is! BMW is watching the boards! Once a few turbos hit the shop with "issues" to this date, long term an unknown....warranties will be pulled!

This is old new with the Ford SVT Lightning....same song...different verse. You just cannot plaster Xede this...and Xede that on the internet and in all good measure expect BMW to just watch from the sidelines. This issue will get out of hand. """

I've had none of the issues described above. The car drives virtually like stock under normal throttle use. Only when you dip hard into the throttle do you get a slight kick in boost at very low rpms (1500-2000). Anything above 2200, throttle reponse improved over stock. I've put over 600 miles on it since the Xede, running it up to 140mph and through local mountain roads varying engine speeds, no check engine lights and still bringing a smile as if it were the first day I got the Xede

sounds more like bad tuning, the Xede is specifically a "controller". the problems described are more a "software" problem rather than "hardware"

im sure shiv will chime in

LMAO.... dynocomp is also the ones that said they had a ecu flas for the 325 that gave 45 hp....I proved that wrong!!!! I got maybe 16hp MAX..
they still swear there dyno gets 40+hp where as 3 other different dynos DO not. Dynocomp IMO has lost all credibiility in my book

If I am not mistaken, I believe Shiv mentioned that the car may actually run cooler after the Xede.

I guess we have difference definition because I had the xede with their S.M.A.R.T. in my Evo for roughly 4 months. No one in the Evo world and the Subie world call the Xede a chip either. You either have standalone unit or piggyback or ecu flash.

Performance map (fast throttle response map) can have difficulties in low revs especially when the engine is cold. When I was driving my M5 at 6th gear uphill, to avoid jerking I needed to turn off "sport" or alternatively down shift.

Nobody at too low revs, but its good to know what are the differences in Ecu maps and hence makes sense to try it out.

At 100 - 155 mph I climb uphill 90% of the time in 6th gear, though.

I don't believe the car heats past its safety margin (if at all?), however, Xede owners in general will push their cars harder than most non-modified cars, by the very fact that Xede owners are typically interested in extreme (by normal standards) performance!

However, it would not be hard for Shiv to do some additional testing and answer the question, brought up by posts on other forums AND BMW's own engineers. The downpipe seems to be one of the critical areas, how hard would it be to put a temp probe/data logger on a few, stock and Xeded, and report back the results after running through some standardized tests? How about data logging oil temp and various other places as well?

Let's try to collect info on the defects on the machining and fasteners of the head. A vin cut off would be good to know for the both defects.
