65k on 330i...going to diy spark plugs...bentley manual says to anti seize and NGK website says do not...I will be changing them again in 40-50k miles...do i need to use the anti-seize???

I just did mine in my 330i, I didnt use anti seize..never have actually. In any car that i've change the plugs on.

I've never used anti-seize. I've also never had trouble removing a spark plug, so I don't see much point in using it anyway.

I believe the product is rubbish. I've never used it and have never had difficulty removing plugs.

Lightly lubricate new plug threads with copper-based anti-seize compound & like it.

no need for it-antiseize is typically used for something thats made of steel...not aluminum..

Cant say It feel any better, but I did note a 1mpg improvement, but I always threw in a bottle of seafoam into the gas tank so who knows...

Far as any pointers, I didnt run into any issues, just make sure you have a flew joint for the 5th cylinder, to get around the strut tower brace.

Need to? No.

The upside is that it greatly reduces the risk of finding a plug seized in the head at the next change. This risk is small, but on the other hand the cost if it occurs can be astronomical.

The downside is making a mess of it. Use a very small amount and do not get it anywhere near the electrode. A very, very small amount.

The conflicting advice makes sense. There is no upside for NGK, in fact from their perspective they probably worry about someone making a hash of this and blaming the new plugs. On the other hand Bentley looks at from the perspective of the owner/mechanic who is also going to be doing the next plug change.

And for the record, the greatest risks are those applications that involve dissimilar metals. Like steel into aluminium.

I've always used a small amount on my cars, never had any issues, the stuff is cheap insurance and isn't a pain to use at all.

ther is no need to anti seize the plugs. just make sure not to overtighten them. 30nm + or - 3nm i beleive for non turbos. turbos have plugs with a different head and need a special socket. 26nm + or - 3nm for turbos i think. it should be stamped on the plug box.
