Extended Warranty and Maintenance
Got a 08 335i with 49k, need to inquiry about extendend warranty and maintenance, do you guys think it is recommended to get? BMW wants to charge me 5300 for both packages for another 3 years and up to 100k miles through EasyCare which pretty much covers factory warranty except hoses and wear and tear items.
Paying 5300 kinda hurts the pocketbook though. Just contacted my Credit Union they offered me Extended Warranty through Route 66 at $1900 but it does not cover - Exhaust or emission parts, electronic equipment including sound reproduction components, wiring or wiring harness, telephone, clock, television, navigation equipment. Any body parts, interior parts, trim, glass, paint, air bag system, keyless entry/anti-theft. Which kinda seems like everything. I rack on around over 20k a year, and I plan to keep the car for another 3 years or so... Any recommendation or suggestions? |

5k sounds alot but in the long run it may be worth it. Looking at the miles you are driving a year. It is nice to know that you have the peace of mind that your car is covered. If you do decide to spend the 5K, make sure you sell the car before you hit 90k miles. This will help you recover some of the money you spent as it will give the future buyer some peace of mind. That is my .02 cents, stay away from what the credit union is offering you. That deal sounds like if you are just buying a contract for $1900 which covers nothing.

From BMW dealership it is around 3400 for the Warranty and 1900 for the Maintainence... it was originally my plan to go through them but paying 5300 out of pocket kind of stings but with BMW parts and services are expensive.

I've been looking into this as well but found some other options. Take a look at this site. You can get the best coverage for $3.500 or the basic power-train coverage for about $2,100. Keep in mind your miles will mostly effect your drive train so the basic coverage is all you really need to make sure you get major repairs fixed. Yes you will be out of pocket if you blow a speaker or if you nav dies but your car will still be running. lol
