Winter rims
I have an 06 e90 dropped on hr sport springs and want to buy a set of winter rims. I want to know what is the biggest size rim with winter tires I could fit on my car without problems. When I originally got my 19's I got all seasons and they didn't fit in my wheel well before the drop so and I only have sports package suspension before I got h&r sports

Most do 17" winter, but both 18" and 19" are an option. But not too many 19" winter tires out there to choose from and there's expensive

An 18" winter setup is definitely a lot more common as there are more tires to choose from. The typical 18" setup is going to vary depending on wheel brand so let me know if there are any designs you're interested in and I'll work something out for you!

I agree with the others. While 19" is an option, you'll be happier with 18" setups in winter with 225/40R18 or 235/40R18.

Yes, the overall diameter of the 19" should be the same as with 17".

Most 19" winters that fits the e9x are 235/35/19. I'd go with 19x8.5 all around and then put some spacers on the rear if needed.

The two best for winter traction in the 235/35R19 will be the Bridgestone Blizzak LM60, and the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D.

Gary,
Is there any issue on the OEM sport package 18" rims, going with the same size tire all around but having 1/2" wider rear wheels (8 vs 8.5")? If so would the 235 size mitigate any F/R diameter differences better than the 225? This is on an xDrive 335i coupe. Thanks. AJ |

I'm running Enkei RPF1 and 225/40-18 Blizzaks on my car for the winter (thank you Tirerack). Don't run staggered on a winter set-up. Go narrow in the back, more traction in snow.
I went with the smallest tire with a nice sidewall to help soften any pothole hits during the winter. My car is VERY low as well. No rubbing issues at all for the tires. The rims are et40, so I have to run a 5mm spacer up front due to my C/O threaded collar touching the tire. 5mm spacer works perfectly. If you don't have C/Os, you may not hit at all.
