Water pump or thermostat?

My car was involved in an accident and I got it all fixed but when I start it 10 mins later the radiator fan starts spinning on full and the engine starts overheating. Anyone know a way to test if it's either a water pump or a thermostat? I don't have warranty so don't tell me to take it to the dealer.

Scan the car, it will set fault codes. Most likely it is the waterpump.
