Another question on switching from RFTS to Non RFTS

I know, I know, this topic has been beaten to death..

I'm thinking of switching from the bridgestone RFT OEM 18" tires to regular bridgestone Potenza non-RFTS RE050A 18" tires for the rear...255/35/18...

I have a nail in the sidewall in one of the rears so I have to replace it. I want to get away from the RFT technology for all the reasons posted on here, ride, cost, etc...

so I don't want to buy one new RFT because then I am married to them...I have considered buying two used tires but I am not 100% sure that is best route...

so my latest idea is to buy two non-RFTs, same tire as OEM. They have the same load index (90) but different speed rating (W vs Y).

The one with the nail is between 3 and 4 32nds and the other rear is between 5 and 6.

Can or better yet, should I run RFTs in the front and non-RFTs in rear?

Fronts are at 10 and 9 32nds...and are obviously a different size...

no, it's a bad idea -- I think you'll find really wierd handling if you do that. Why not get 4 new tires and sell the "good" runflats on Craigslist or this site? That's what I did. People need useable runflats for lease returns, or to replace the one tire that got killed when 3 others are perfectly fine. They sell quickly.

i'm running non-runflats in the rear and original bridgestone runflats in the front.

I don't sense much of all this weird handling people speak of.

ofcourse i did this as a very temporary thing, rear tires wore out, haven't gotten my new wheels yet, so wasnt gonna buy new tires for the rear when i'm getting 19's soon.

i think its fine, then again maybe it doesnt matter as much having the non runflats in the rear.
