Engine hesitating at a stop light on my way home from work and then went to engine malfunction when i came to a complete stop... this is my 3rd pump...last replaced 4 months ago with the latest HPFP...not even 2000 miles on the latest version.

Limped all the way home. When I powered off...I started the car back up and it fired up without the malfunction? The past two failures... I would have a long crank and go immediately into malfunction (after the initial malfunction).

So what the hell? Can it still be a bad pump, even though it fired back up normally?

I wasn't racing or even driving...it went to malfunction (not limp mode) when I was at idle...and for the record, I took my tune out before the latest HPFP...so that is not it.

Should I take it to the dealer anyway or should I wait for another malfunction?

Any thoughts?
