What mod to do next?
CB111, you're not allowed on this one, lol.....j/k....
I had reached a point where I was done for a while...and well...it's been a while (ok only like 2 months) and I'm ready to do something else..if only small. I plan on doing mtech side skirts and something with the front (don't know what yet) when I get back to the states in a few months. Just curious what you guys think I should do? Here's the things I'm thinking about... Carbon fiber interior - figure this will cost about $500 for all pieces including steering wheel..and I might do the gauge. LED interior lighting - $85 Vinyl roof - Don't know what this costs or how to do it yet... CDV delete - Don't know what this cost? Can't think of anything else small?

Since you left off one of the "ones" I figure you can't be talking about me so let me toss in my two cent's worth (currently on sale for a penny) Carbon fiber interior - be a bit careful that you don't overdo it. Remember those "wood" kits from ten years ago where every single square inch of the dash was plastered with fake wood? Too much of a good thing can be too much. LED interior lighting - be careful. Because a LED has less current draw, many kits will require the use of resistors to "draw" more power. The only way to get rid of that extra power is by expelling heat and I've seen the plastic lenses and housing melted by LED lights. In the VW world, the way the circuit runs actually causes the LEDs to always glow a bit (even when off) which could affect your night vision. I'm not sure if that is an issue with BMW. Vinyl wrapping roof - no harder than installing a clear bra - but - you have a dark car so will it be visible? If you're planning on carbon fiber look then see my comments about the interior bits. I'd think about mods that aren't available here - perhaps a proper set of Msport seats. If doing seats, make sure that they have the side airbags and are designed for your year car so you won't have airbag controller issues. I'm not sure where you are stationed, but wander around your local BMW dealer's shop and get some ideas. |

Damnit, you have too many 1's in there for me to remember when I started typing
Yeah, I hear ya on the CF interior. I didn't think I wanted to do this for a while. I'm happy with what I have for now but it has gotten scratched up a little from my dog. And the more I look at the pics, the more it's grown on me. My friend here (E46 M3) just did his. I need to go look at it to see if I like it in person. I will only do the trim pieces along with the steering wheel. I will definately consult with E92 lighting on this...I've heard of quite a few doing it..so I don't believe it's a problem with BMW's. I don't know what to say about this. Is this ONLY for looks or is it a protectorate also? Damn you advise Msport seats, lol...after all the money lecturing? I'm very happy with the sport seats...but I have seen the msport seats and they are nice... I am stationed in the middle of nowhere Germany and I'm sure I could find some places that sell some stuff...but it's expensive...especially when I'm heading back to the states in the near future. I really want the Mtech front bumper and side skirts..but getting those shipped over here is a no go....unless I did it internationally which would be CRAZY expensive... I'm also thinking about "Better" pads (i.e. that don't give off as much brake dust) and some cross-drilled/slotted rotors...<<these are mostly for looks for me. The BBK is just too much damn money...but I CAN NOT handle any squeaking that could come along with this. If anything, I may just do the rotors cause actually I don't think the stock pads produce too much dust as it is... And lastly, I want to do DP's with high flow cats...but that's something else that will have to wait till I get back..

IMO the best results from CF interior come from wrapping the wood or alum trim and leaving it at that - no steering wheel, shift knob, center stack, or whatever else

Yeah, I was thinking about doing the wrapping. And I like doing some things myself but I've heard a couple horror stories about the wrap and I'm not too patient for stuff like that.

If you're not patient or a perfectionist take it somewhere where you know you'll get a good wrap. I did mine myself, and basically wrapped it twice, as there is a learning curve, but mine's not perfect and there are a few pieces I will need to wrap again but haven't gotten around to, but again, if you don't have the time (4+ hrs) or patience I'd recommend taking it somewhere, or perhaps just spending the extra $$ on getting the CF trim from an M3

I spent way too much time in Grafenwoehr but even that was only an hour or so from Nuernberg. While suff is expensive, remember that you don't have to pay the MwSt (the value added tax) on larger purchases and you can find some interesting stuff that you'll never see in the US. |

Well, you are correct, the A46 is only 10 miles down the road..where it begins..and actually I live near one of the largest concentration of cities in Europe...but that's an hour away...I still live in the country tho....
But yes I know about not having to pay VAT...but things are still a little more expensive here. I could go down to Aachen..I know there are some shops there to see...and I go there very often anyway....

CDV delete for sure. It's not a huge change, but it is 100% positive with no downside. You don't need a replacement part, just remove it and bleed the clutch valve.

Try Kohl in Aachen. The two women in the accessory department speak English quite well (I think one of them is Anka or Elke - something like that. They are on Neuenhofstraße 160 |

Jeez man....you know the ladies at Kohl in Aachen huh.....I've heard mixed about that one..there's a Kohl BMW (Kohl owns many different auto dealers) right down the road from me in Heinsberg.....they suck tho....horrible reputation around here...
I work with many Germans....a couple of which know some places to go....and I'm sure the members on here stationed in the bigger areas know plenty of places.... But I've already done most of what I want and the remaining things I can get when I get back...and I like supporting the vendors on here....

Yeah - Kohl's is a megastore and has an iffy reputation - but parts is parts and they speak English. Being a huge place means they have lots of stuff in stock. |

All of our cars have them, they are just not activated on US spec cars. Buying the Euro Switch activates them and includes a separate switch for the rears
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75343 There are also ways to rig your US switch and activate them, but the link I posted is the most elegant solution |

The two inside "bright" stop lights on the US model are used as Rear Fogs on the Euro model. You can just buy the switch assembly there in Germany for a Euro 335 or do the mod of your existing switch assembly. Either way gives you rear fogs when you need them.
