Fob Personalization Settings Question

I have a 2006 325i and was reading in the manual the other day about how to personalize certain settings on the car like DRLs, unlocking all doors or one, etc... The one I saw in the manual that I wanted to change, I can't change it. I personally don't mind, but my wife wants to hear a confirmation honk as she walks away from the car when she locks it. I see in the manual that you can set the lock confirmation to flash the lights, honk, both, or nothing. The only options I see on my car's menu is flash the lights or nothing at all. No audible confirmation options. Is there something else I need to do to get this option to show up?

I applaud BMW for attempting to limit the car horn noise pollution experienced in most US parking lots.

I agree. Well, at least now I know why it doesn't honk. Thanks!

I agree, but still wish I had the option.

My wife's Ford Fusion has a better system. One push of the remote's lock button locks the car and an optional second push triggers the aural (horn) and visual (lights) acknowledgement.

Actually, if you listen carefully, you can hear the BMW locks click, but my problem is that a minute later as I'm walking away, I forget and have to go back to look at the doors to make sure I've locked them! Unfortunately, I don't think BMW can remedy that.

yeah this is pretty stupid. even if i could i wouldn't always have the honk on, but in big events, like let's say concerts, theme parks and things like that, you might not remember exactly where you parked. so instead of circling around 2 lanes because there's no noise coming from the car you could hear the noise and find it.
