Raising redline on auto
So for a 330i does any of these tunes raise the redline on the auto's as well? If so my question is how does that relate to how the tranny operates. For example currently it shits from 1-2 at 30, 2-3 at 60.
If redline is raised by 300, then will the 1-2 happen at 35 or 2-3 at 65 (or whatever-those are just random guesses) I would like a tune with a higher redline providing the tranny would be able to hang with this--which tune offers this |

why would you want to? we start to loose power after our red line?
meaning we would be reving higher but with less power, personally id like to be able to shift when its supposed to, and stay in the power ban. but thats jut me. Auto or Manual.

We bump the redline to 7300 and there is some power to be had there. it dies off stock around 6800, but after tuning you get a rise in power all the way to 7300. Tranny is fine with an extra 200 rpm, I would almost say it likes it. |

you cant always look at the power band without looking at gearing. If the extra 300rpms can allow you to say in 1st gear or whatever the lower gear is that much longer, than it depends. If you take a bit of a hit in the total power output however you are in a lower gear, than the multiplier effect of the lower gear more than makes up for the power loss.
Power band is all dependent on gearing. The other altnerative when you would be correct is when you look at the n54. After 6000 the power is SO much lower that it is worse than shifting to a higher gear and getting back into the power band. On our engines the power is not that much greater by getting back into the band at a higher gear |
