this is what my SA told me today when i asked about mods and warranty. if the mod was the cause of the problem, then it would void your warranty.

I ask the questions you're afraid to ask.

Sigh. If your mod causes a failure then the dealership is obligated to refuse warranty repairs for that failure.

That said, a BOV can be responsible for many issues, including any turbo issues, driveability problems or general engine problems. In theory, HPFP symptoms could be blamed on a BOV - if the HPFP issue weren't so well documented.

Sure it will effect the warranty. You didn't mention what you're actually trying to accomplish either.

He wants to lose boost and sound like a 16 year old's Civic.

The unintended consequences are possible warranty issues and a lighter wallet.

Any modification to your car, besides professionally installed oem parts, can void your warranty. What is so hard to understand about this? Why do people ask if a certain mod will void their warranty. Were not your dealer....it's mostly up to them.

I don't mean to call you out OP but people need to use their common sense.

I would like to hear your explaination of this "losing" boost. Since I still have my 18 psi.

Then you're already violating the terms of the BMW warranty, so do whatever you want. Your drivetrain warranty is already void if BMWNA knows about your current engine mods anyway...

As is their right. They're not in the business of acting as the R&D for modders.
