Interesting things to do in the Boston area?

Hi folks,

I'm heading up to Boston this weekend to meet up with some old college buddies, and celebrate Oktoberfest in style .

For the rest of the weekend, I was wondering if you guys might have some suggestions for things to do? I'm already pretty familiar with the downtown Boston/Cambridge area (went to college there) but I was wondering if there's anything within driving distance of Boston that I could see/check out with my friends during the day (i.e. not the ducktour/typical pilgrims' trail tour!)?

Thanks!

Larz Anderson auto museum? I have never been myself but people seem to enjoy it.

The Sam Adams and Harpoon breweries are near Boston and have brewery tours which may go hand in hand with your Oktoberfest celebrations haha. They might even have special events for the weekend.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, my plans all got shot to bits when I hit a pothole on I-90 about 40 miles from Boston. It destroyed my left front tire, and it took half a day to get my car on a tow truck and then towed to Herb Chambers. I left NY at 10 am, was at the dealership by 630 pm!! Got there after the service center closed, so had to wait till Sunday morning to get a new tire.

Boston's a great city, but man oh man did I miss the hours that BMW dealers have here in NY.

Also, an E90 M3 passed the tow truck as we were headed into Boston...the driver definitely had a little chuckle when he saw my car and then me in the truck cab.
