Roundel - September 2008 debut @ Frankfurt
"New M3 to debut in Frankfurt: The new M3 will debut at next September's Frankfurt auto show. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the BMW M boss Ulrich Bruhnke confirmed the date while at the launch of the M6 convertible in southern France last September. "The Frankfurt International Motor Show is so important [to BMW] we must show it there," he said. The fourth-generation M3, based on the E90 3 Series Coupe....... ".
Page 32 of December 2006 Issue Heard on the Strasse column by Bob Roemer. Some more detials of the interview with Bruhnke are here: http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Ar...eID=20369&vf=1 Nice digs against MB philosophy in this one. Damn I sure hope this is wrong. Based on the maturity of the mules, as well as how old the quote actually is I'm still optimistic for Geneva. Making sure that the cars get to NA as 2008 models also makes a debut in Sep 07 seem impossible (cars arrive in EU a couple months earlier than US). Only time will tell.... |

Looking at the amount of disguise on the spy shots now, the E92 M3 will be launched at Geneva March 2007. |

From the article, Bruhnke:
"was also dismissive of Mercedes-Benz AMG's insatiable appetite for engine performance at any cost, saying the next M3 would stay faithful to the driving dynamics and handling balance that the M reputation is built on. 'We are much more than just the biggest engine in every car.'" Yes, I like that about M but I hope Bruhnke is not managing expectations with this quote. I want the M3 to have superior dynamics AND enough power to outperform AMG even in a straight line. |

Works for me!
I am one of the first few people on my dealers list, though my current car ’06 Audi S4, lease doesn’t expire until November ’08. That should be a perfect time to get a second run of the M3, get some of the first run kinks out and maybe lease rates will be a little more favorable.

we'll.. you have to wait for it to hit in Europe first.. And it may take a lot of time to hit the US...
I asked some1 at the LA autoshow about when the M3 wil be in US (some persona t the bmw section) they said 10-12 months... I got so upset.. but then i talked to Ivine BMW where I am #1 on the list.. they said that production starts in March- May... SO i have no idea what is going to happen. |

Guys i hope it will be debuted in March... but Don't they always skip a production year?
They produced 06 E46... so they will skip 2007 and maybe they will amke it a 2008... so september... ehh..... I pray to god no but i think the source might be right |

Maybe theres a mixup between 07-08 debut?
Lets clear things up. It WILL be '08 model (history says one year off for the predecessor) therefore there is no way it would come out as an '08 in September because that would be '09 model. ...yaaayyy for logic! |

Good updates from South Bay BMW
First let me say that I generally think we know more than dealers. Often it is absolutely the case that we know waaay more and they are total BS-ers. Anyway I got these updates from my sales manager today and so far he has been a really good guy. Some quotes some paraphrasing and I added some comments:
No official news – but we are expecting the car in the summer of ’07. Maybe the guy at Irvine has more official info than me (see initial post)???? We just got back from Phoenix with BMW launching the new X5 and they gave us all kinds of scoops – new 1 series, facelift 5 and 6 series, hydrogen 7, hardtop convertible 3 series, diesel motors….. Nothing about the M3!! (we did get to thrash the X5 around Firebird raceway – fun!!) I will let you know if we get any official news. New York, April, is a good guess for the cars debut (maybe he meant US debut not international)? We should have official vehicle specifcations by Feb ’07? Since SBBMW is one of the larger dealers they expect 1-4 M3s/mo after allocations begin. |

Geneva '07 would be perfect! If that were the case I'd place a deposit on an M3 within days of its debut and then hopefully take delivery sometime in late June or July. That would give me 13 months in total with my current 330i.
