Escort 9500ci Radar and Laser Jammer Install E90 M3

Guys,
I got this installed a couple weeks ago and have been very pleased with the unit. Bryan at Quality Auto Sound on Washington in Northglenn worked with me very well and even ended up redoing the display in the ashtray as it was too level and hard to see on the first try. Turn key price for unit and install was $1995.

I put the bi-color LED at the lower right of the tach symmetrical with the odometer reset stem. I also took some pictures of where the speaker was installed(perforated plastic) and the USB port.

I haven't had a laser shot yet but the GPS has been locking out my old false locations(had an escort x50).

That looks great. Not sure if you know/care but laser jammers are illegal in our fine state...

Looks good, James!!

Hey, Signes, do you know what the fine is in CO (just might be worth it... with this recession and the cops freely admitting ticket budgets to fill city and county coffers, I don't feel so bad)?

Sorry to hear you are moving, where to?

ColoCane, I believe they have a right to seize the jammer itself in addition to the fine. I had the Escort SRX on my old M3 and wound up shutting off the jammer because I didn't want to lose it. All depends on the cop, but if you are the only guy on the road and it's obvious you're speeding (and you get a pissy cop) could be a world of trouble. A quick call to a traffic lawyer might help clarify.

I know it's $75 and no points in the state I'm heading to. They also can't confiscate it but can record the serial number for court records.

Whoa... thanks Signes. Good advise, I may call a traffic attorney. I'd really like to put in a remote system, but it seems strange to pay for a system and then only install part of it.

Some newbie cop looking to flex his authority by just pulling sh*t off my car, might just set me over the edge! (And yes... I do understand that I'd be running the risk by illegal equipment; i.e.; reap what you sow, but I wouldn't want anyone touching my car).

I also wouldn't be so focused on detection if it were not for the extraordinary lengths some law enforcement are going to ticket you... not in the name of public safety, but in the name of revenue generation!

Decided on a passport QI45

Ordered thru Murray Parts Dept. and built my own stealth (ashtray) mount for it. Murray will install it for the published Escort price incl. Laser Jammers - 1/2 the price of the 9500.

Shown in my '08 335i...<2 weeks away from taking delivery of my latest M3 - can't wait!

QI45 with Laser Shifters? Why not just get the 9500ci then? Only difference stock is that that QI45 does not come with the laser shifters, correct?

Nice job on install. Nice touch with the carbon fiber look.

Thank you...

The base Qi45 is $699 installed (at Murray Motors BMW), the laser shifters are $299 more, installed. All in...the Qi45 w/ shifters is a minimum of $1,000 less than the 9500ci (closer to $2,000 as 9500 installs typically take >8 hours, versus a few +/- (incl. fabrication time) for the Qi. The downside is that the Qi shifters are front only. This didn't matter a ton to me as the only LIDAR I have personally experienced seems to be a head on (frontal) assault, so the notion of a single rear shifter on my license plate seems a waste of $.

I personally (opinion) don't think that the 9500ci is going to provide me with $1,000+ extra performance or benefit, so I went with the Qi45 instead.

James, how the heck are you? Hope the move went smoothly and life is treating you well...

Mpardun, can we get an update? I seem to be getting a lot more laser hits on my Rx65 (although often can spot the source, which should be straight ahead, so I'm wondering if I have an issue wuth the unit). Jammers working well, any issues?

(Thanks for the info above, by the way. Strongly considering going that route. Did you work with someone in particular at Murray? Happy?)
