No..they are on all the Bimmers with BMW Assist..that is the link pod I believe..

I read somewhere that you only get the fin if you opt for any of the Sat Nav packages and bluetooth and Assist.

If you get normal radio you don't get it. Not sure if this include professional radio though.

It's just I've never seen an exterior picture that doesn't have a fin.

Geez, I'm glad this topic came up.... I wasn't going to get either the Premium Package or the Navigation, but was slightly inclined on the Assist Option b/c of the bluetooth stuff.... but if the above mentioned is true, I'm definitely going to get AT LEAST the Assist Option.

Got to have the FIN!!

Some people even prefer it without, they think it's ugly. I, for one, think it finishes off the car beautifully.

Following a bit of research from E90 owners here's what they had to say:

"I have picked up my 325i yesterday (in The Netherlands); no shark fin on the roof. Luckily.

I did not opt for navigation and GSM. I have the professional radio". - Poiter

"My UK dealer confirmed that the "shark fin" antenna is only installed on the car if you have Satnav, Bluetooth or BMW Assist. If you don't order these options the car will not have the shark fin antenna.

There is a 320d in my dealer's showroom without the fin as it has none of the above. The two 325i's have the fin as they have some of the options above". - beauforty

All cars here in SA come with phone preparation as standard, thus all will have the fin.

Nav will have the fin
Phones/ phone preparation will have the fin

You also get the fin with the "Sat RAdio" Prep option ($75).

really? awesome....i got only the sat prep...i like the shark fin....definitely worth the $75 if that is true.

My dealer said the fin is ONLY for BMW Assist..It may COME with the SatNav and Bluetooth options, but it is USED for Assist communication Identification purposes, in case of an accident, etc...

Well your dealer didnt look at his parts system. The fin comes for the other reasons above

We dont have BMW Assist here and still all cars get the fin due to phone prep

There are many models of the fin, dependig on what equipment you have

Believe me, thats not the first time he has been incorrect. Not sure what their deal is over there, but I will be changing who I see with my questions..I could very easily get all my answers from here anyway!

From what I know the fin comes only if you take i-drive (and sat nav).
Most of the orders for the Hong Kong market are without idrive (we don't have sat nav here) and so far, the cars I have seen here have no i-drive and no fin.

The fins all look the same, just the internals are different

Has anyone confirmed the details about the fin? One person mentioned they thought you get the FIN with the $75 Sirius pre-wire? Many specualtions, but does anyone know for sure? I want the FIN, but I do not neccasarily need everything that comes with the Premium package.
