Best roadside jack?
Hi guys,
what is the best roadside jack? Looking into it, there don't seem to be many scissor jacks available. I have heard stories of them collapsing - doesn anyone have any experience? Should I be looking at a scissor jack then or something else? |

I got the BMW scissor jack works fine. Scissor jacks or for quick usage, ie changing out a flat tire, and any type of jack can fail and collapse.

I prefer the scissors jack due to the ability to easily store it in the trunk and the ease of using it. I carry two wheel chocks in my trunk that I put behind the wheels for added safety while using the jack. I personally feel safer using the scissors jack because a hydraulic jack can possibly leak, lose pressure while in operation, etc. Not too common, but can happen. All jacks have their flaws though, but I have not had any problems with my s.j. I do also have a hydraulic jack that works well, but doesn't seem to lift the car up high enough. If you plan on leaving your car jacked up for a while, ensure to use jackstands.
