Race fuel because it'll make your car faster than a 335

in NC we have 93 octane... out west its mainly 91 if im not mistaken. and to me gas is gas. you can market it with whatever BS you want, but in the end is there really a difference? probably not.

I believe Chevron 93 may be the best gas or Sunoco 93. We have
many more Sunoco stations, so I cannot compare unless I go out of the way to a Chevron station. My vehicle definitely feels peppier when it has better gas in it! I have only been able to use Shell 93 most of my vehicles life and they it has always ran great. Just try to stick to top tier stations. We should just get one vehicle to dyno and run different gas companies to see which makes the most power.

Chevron 91 for the Techron, the fuel system cleaner that BMW sells is rebranded Techron. And Shell (recommended by Ferrari) is there's no Chevron around (as was the case in Boston), and once in while to get a different additive through the engine.

Ferrari recommended the use of Shell gas in their street cars (at a few years ago, when I moved to Boston and there were no/few Chevron stations.)

This is one of my least favorite subjects. No retail gas distributor has consistently better quality than any other one. Buy the highest octane for the cheapest - otherwise it is virtually a uniform product.
If you pay more money for the same product to stay loyal to a brand, you are a SUCKER. Period.

91+ octane from any reputable retailer. eg, anything other than those one-off, janky, mom and pop stations that don't look well kept.

Yes, the retailers do change because they are constantly checking. I run Shell ALL the time. I put Wawa gas in my VW Golf and the car ran like crap for months- major stumbling and issues. http://www.toptiergas.com/

Nothin but Shell V-Power all the way! It's not about the gas, it's about what they put INTO the gas to help your engine and fuel system. I know it makes a difference. Filled up with nothing BUT SVP and my car runs just as strong and smooth as the day I got it. I'll run out of gas before I put anything else in the tank. |

Even running straight av gas isn't ideal for a car because they are not formulated for that use. If you want more octane, stick with racing gas. Another point to consider about fuels is storage life. Regular pump gas is designed with a relatively short shelf life (measured in weeks). Racing gas is formulated to be stored for longer periods (measured in months). I don't know this for a fact but shelf life may be part of the issue with cheap gas not running well in many cars. It's possible that part of the reason these fuels are cheaper because they are "old" and are sold off at lower prices by the wholesalers to get rid of them. Not that it matters to most here but el cheapo fuels don't work well with any carburetated vehicle I've ever owned. Makes them hard to start and generally don't run well.

..said the guy who bought a BMW...
Shell 91 V-Power (no ethanol in Ontario, lots of cleaning agents, and marketing) I see a lot of comments about "Gas is all the same, it all comes from the same sources". What they always neglect is the part of the process after the refinery where custom additives are mixed into the fuel. The difference may not justify the price, but it *is* a difference.
