Just had my oil changed. My '07 328i has 29K miles on it.

The dealer did the work because it's still in the maintenance period.

I get back into the car and check the iDrive setings. Oil Change reminder is now set for 25000 miles and 12 months! What gives? Is my CBS system hosed?

(Obviously, I'm not going 25K till my next oil change)

Drive it awhile - it'll drop dramatically to about 17k

Its based on real world conditions. The milage will change if it feels that it needs to be done sooner but you are entitled to one a year.

Not anymore -my car's maint. program ends in November. Its in-service date was 4 years ago. (I bought it about 6 months ago)

I had this issue on my car. I had an oil change done and then the mileage on the CBS kept going up. I took my car in for this issue and the first time, they reset the CBS indicator to 15,000, i.e., after I had driven 4,000 miles since the last oil change. Then, it went from 15,000 to 17,000, 19,000, 23,000 and finally 24,000. Took it in again. They had my car for a week. I believe they opened a PUMA case and reprogrammed my car with the latest software update. This brought the CBS indicator to 9,000 miles right away. On my service record, they notated that the CBS cannot indicate a mileage in excess of 19,000 miles for oil change.

Take your car in right away and have them fix it.
