People still put subs in their cars? OMG don't do it. I never thought I would see this on this forum.

i would do neither. The pbx is not a tune by any means. I dont know much about it but its not like a tune on a 335i. The sub is also a bit extreme unless your still in hs or college and like to listen to heavy bass. The money can be used for more useful things like leds, 6000k fogs...etc

Do you have an E92 or E90? I could sell you my 2 Alpine Type R 10's with 2 Alpine MRP-M500 amps, in a custom box covered with suede and vinyl, which fits PERFECTLY in the trunk of an E92, just in the middle of the creases in the back of the trunk. It was made specifically for my car by a very skilled shop. They hit really hard, but most importantly sound VERY clean. Definitely a high quality system, I'm just over the thumping. My dealer doesn't have any problems with it, so no worries there, although I can't guarantee that your dealer won't have a problem with it. I do recommend a capacitor, as this thing pulls a lot of power.
If you want some pictures, click on the "My Car" link in my signature and go to the bottom of page 3. Edit: I just failed at reading the title. Maybe it will fit well in the E90 too, who knows :P I could send you the dimensions if you're interested. The trunks look and are shaped similarly.

I would not do subs. the sound system in our cars is phenomenal anyways. why would you need more bass? Personal preference, but I like to hear the words of my music, but thats just me.
the AA tune is pretty good from what we have seen, and the pbx is great in the throttle response range. by far the cheapest route. power gains are small. look into either the AA tune or the gintani tune for your car. always go for more power when possible. if you wanna spend that kinda money (no idea how much subs and stuff cost) get headers and a tune... thatll give you a boost. or get new wheels, if cosmetic route is your thing, nothing looks better than a nice set of wheels.

only sub i'd ever consider (and i don't even know if this is an option b/c i never looked into it for my bmw) is if they offered a stealth box over the wheel well so it sits flush and appears stock.
i'd get the tune, whether its bms, aa or gintani. and if you're worried about warranty, than get something functional as someone mentioned. |

I love my subs, and if you do it right you only add about ~20-30lbs to the car which is not bad at all. If you set the box up right you get great sound and little weight.
Im running: 2 Infinity Perfects 8" in a double baffled box that fire through the Ski Port, with an Addictive Audio amp It slams and doesnt rattle at all. and the Bass knob is handy when you want to turn the subs down. Honestly id pick subs over a tune, you want to be comfortable inside your own car ...just dont to 12's |

why bother spending money on handling and braking if you're going to weigh it down with heavy 19" v710 wheels? even the 18s" are ridicuously heavy...

He asked if the money should be put in subs or the PBX, I assume he wants the most impact, if so definitely go with the subs, they will certainly have more impact to your senses than the PBX can offer you.
Not that I like subs, but if he likes them, so be it. |

the VMR csls weight 26 pounds for the 19 by 8.5 and 28 pounds for the 19 by 9---that is still ighter than the stock 18 allows which weight 33 pounds each on the 3 series--5-7 pounds each loss per rotating wheel weight is no joke

Oh I would add one thing, protect your hearing!!! Blasting sound can have long lasting impact to your hearing, something you may come to regret later. Last edited by dtc100; 10-27-2010 at 07:26 AM.. |
