Quick Procede install question.

Sorry but search gives TOO MANY results...

First time installing Procede.
New update is coming soon.

Can I install the unit leaving USB cable attached?
Then, update firmware WITHOUT uninstalling unit?

Don't want to do something twice.

Thanks in advance.

I've seen people just have the usb cable hanging out or routed through the glove box so they don't have to uninstall to update

If you leave the usb attachment at the right spot you can just pop the top ecu cover off and snake the cable out of the ecu box to update the procede in 2mins.

I slipped it under one of the wire grommets and have it bundled. I originally didn't but regretted it. I highly recommend doing this or routing it into the cabin.

If you don't, you have to tear it apart not only for every firmware update, but for data logging and many of the software configuration options.

I routed the 9 pin connector so that it is resting on top of the white ecu cover but under the black top cover. I wrapped it with a plastic bag and tape for waterproofing.

I know I could have routed the usb cable into the cabin but instead desire a quick, completely removable tune for service visits.

^^ thats the reason why i didn't go through the glove box. I want to be able to remove everything for dealer visits.

I usually leave the connector inside the white ecu box so i can still fully close it. when i need to update something i just pop off the black cover, undo one of the locking tabs and lift the white cover up just enough to snake the connector out. I use to have a thin wire attached to it so that would dangle out while still being able to close the box.
