Cracked Crankcase
I brought my e90 330i in for service this week, for an exhaust smell which seemed like burning oil. On evaluation they found a cracked crank case, and incidentally said I need new front control arm bushings. Good thing the case is covered by warranty, anybody know how this may have happened. Mileage is 95k miles.

Sounds like you ran over a large rock or perhaps a small boulder. Better thank your lucky star$ you're in warranty.

Well, oil pan isn't that bad. You just need to drop the front subframe which takes a while but the oil pan part is easy.

That's good. Those hoses get old and dry out. They're really easy to break when they're like that.
