Possible price increase in HK

Went to the dealer yesterday and he told me they might increase the price by 3-5% for all new orders. Apparently this is due to the appreciation of the Euro (or the depreciation of the HKD).

Did you guys hear anything similar?

Yes, but not necessarily due to the Euro. BMW increase prices by at least 1-2% almost every year. My sales person is telling me they are looking at possibly 2-3% increase for 2011 production cars.

True. He also mentioned something about the new cars will be considered 2011 models instead of 2010 so it might have better resale value.

Oh well...should've ordered a month ago...2-3% is not little. I could have gotten another option!

I'll probably order mine tomorrow. Have to wait until end March/early April for my car to arrive if I order within the next few days.

BTW, read in the forum you have park assist. Have you tried it yet? I think my wife will need it hehehe My dealer told me it's not available in HK...

It is available. I have tried it. But I had it on my Vellfire so nothing new for me. In fact the one on the Vellfire is a lot better than the park assist on the F10.

Having said that, it is nice to have but not a must in my books. I can parallel park way faster than the park assist. And the couple of times I tried it, the tire still hit the curb when backing in. Gotta have it checked out by BMW.

That sucks! Don't want to ruin those pretty 20" rims you have. Can it be because of IAS? Maybe the steering angle is a lot higher than what was programmed in the park assist option.

In that case I'll skip this option. I'll just go with sun roof, soft close, anthracite headliner, and the iphone connectivity. Any other options you think I should add for a 528? The dealer quoted me HKD4500 for the headliner before FRT. I thought I read somewhere in this forum that its HKD4700 inc FRT.

Thanks for the tips btw! This is truly a magnificent car.

Hi jxnco I got the headliner for 4700 inclusive. Im pretty happy with it but it would depend on the interior colour you choose! I think the I phone connectivity should be standard , not sure it the soft close is such a practical option. One option I regret not ordering is the rear sunblinds. I wonder if it can be retrofitted?

Hi Chiver

4700 inclusive? That's odd. Is the option code 775? Also which branch quoted you 4700 inclusive?

I'm going with alpine white exterior, cinnamon brown/ash trim interior so I guess anthracite headliner is a must.

The rear sunblind is a good idea. I can ask tomorrow if it can be retrofitted. As for the iphone connectivity, I'm refering to option 6NF. The dealer said I need it if I want full control of my iphone via IDrive. This should allow me to see album covers, etc...

Thx! I also have the cinnamon interior and I think it the anthracite headliner is essential. The regular grey really doesnt match! I got mine at the matauwai outlet. I thought the iphone connectivity was standard on post Sept builds! Dont trust your sales by the way, they are really not very knowlegable. I think mine was semi retarded!

Yeah that's what I thought. When I told him I want anthracite headliner he had no clue what I was talking about. At first he quoted me HKD17K then I told him it's lower than 5K. He came back with 4.5K plus FRT. I'll check again. Option code 775 right?

Man for these salesmen, they really don't know their stuff.

Thanks

I actually got all my info from these forums. My sales had no idea what anthracite headliner was. I had to guide her to a X5M they had in the showroom to show her! Sorry I forgot the code number, but I can check when I get home.

haha. yea i thought iphone thing is standard..mine is pre sept production so it cant display album art. but i just needed to get a Ycable for full iphone intergration. you better check with your sales. they might have taken that option out.
the soft close door isn't that useful. just add a nice touch. you can look at the sport seat or comfort seat.they are great. i forgot to add that when i ordered.lol. but the standard one is still fine.
and chiver. i think the rear sunblind can be retrofitted.

Price increase during the model year ? That's unusual. In NA, price change is set at the beginning of a model year.

There is an ordering guide (supposed to be for US but codes are the same for individual options) in the F10 ordering and tracking forum. It is sticky on top. Has pretty much all the option codes.......

'might' - lets see if they do ar ... they have a tend to say that alot
the euro might be 1.20 again next month .. what the heck
they are giving steep discounts on non-hot models .. like old styles + stock thats been sitting around
new model like f10 wont get any discounts .. just the other models they will give below list price ..
so unless euro goes really crazy, the pressure to increase price on everything is not that great.. there is still too much discounting going on

Finally ordered my 528i yesterday. There was a big note on the price (Subject to a 3-5% price increase). He kinda assured me that it's a formality and the chances of it happening is slim.

My specs are:
Alpine White/Cinnamon Brown/Ash
1. Sunroof - can't live without it
2. Soft Close Doors - although my dealer told me i don't need it, my wife really wants it.
3. Anthracite headliner - dealer insists that the price is 4500 + FRT unless i can show him a receipt that says it's 4700 (inc FRT)
4. Rear sunblinds - Chiver, thanks for the tip. I think it's a must have option more so if you have/will have kids in the future. Asked the dealer about retrofitting, he said the rear electric one can't be retrofitted, the ones on the rear passenger window that's manual can be. Not sure if he knows what he is talking about.
5. Smartphone connectivity - dealer said not needed coz i can always use the USB drive. I'm not sure too if it's really needed but what the heck, it's not that expensive and can't be retrofitted so i went for it.

Regarding Park Assist - my dealer said I don't really need it and he discouraged me from getting it. He did quote me the same (HKD6500 + FRT).

As for the IAS and Comfort Seats, found them too pricey.

He also suggested me to ditch my 17" RFTs for 19" non RFTs when the car arrives. He said the ride will be so much better. He claims RFTs is BMW's way of saving cost. Although RFT is more expensive than non RFT, they don't need to provide that extra wheel for non RFT so overall they save on cost.

So there it is. 5 months and counting. Jan 2011 build.

Thanks for all the help guys!
