Problems suggestions needed

I own a '08 328coupe have 52,000 miles so of course this crap happens right after warranty expires. I had a feeling it would happen and my dreams came true unfortunatley. Heres the deal, yesterday, I hear a vacuum sound coming from engine and a loud screaching noise while driving. Of course I immediatly thought it was a belt. I took it to dealer right after I heard the sound. He opens the hood opens the cap on top of motor and air was sucking in like crazy. Long story short I have to replace the whole valve cover. Now I asked him is this normal and have you seen this. Hes said I havent seen this before. Has anyone heard of this type of problem with a car at 52,000 miles for a valve to go out so soon? And get this a week ago a bolt broke from the belt tensioner and the belt snapped. Am I crazy or is this BMW a piece of sh-t. I never had problems like this so soon on my Infiniti. I drive like a freakin grandma and my car is only two years old.

Can anyone give me some advice or have experienced my issues? Im debating now just to trade it in and buy a new one. Thanks a lot in advance.
By the way: cost for belt issue $550.00
cost for valve cover $1100.00 that one hurt a little

See if you can get a goodwill repair especially if one of the bolts on the valve cover was broken. There's no reason why a valve cover should leak @ 50k miles.

If you are referring to the oil filler cap, then yes it would suck a whole bunch of air in if you opened it while the engine is running and that would be normal and no indication of what your problem is. The engine always runs with a vacuum inside it. Opening the oil cap prevents the engine from maintaining the vacuum. I thinks he's trying to rip you off and it's probably a vacuum line somewhere that has broken.

Oh my God, I need to read the whole post sometimes. I just saw valve cover and 52,000 miles and agreed about a good will repair.

+2 on Entity's post.

Well that's true but the OP didn't qualify whether or not the sucking sound was there with the oil cap on. There's more to the story IMO.

Thanks for comments. Yea I argued enough that I'm not having to pay a dime. I thought these cars were reliable but have no more confidence
