So I've been looking into what the datalogging cable does and I'm not really sure if I need it or not.

I'm not going to make any custom maps or something, so would I really need to get it?

I'm getting the same price on a brand new jb3 or a used one with datalogging cable and not sure which route to take.

If you mean BT cable it is definatly a must have. Unless you wanna depend on the dealer for everything. And trust them. Search everything it does.Bavarian technic.com

I would get the cable as it makes it much more convenient to update firmware, datalog, etc. Running it into the glove box also makes it easy to ride with the laptop at your side.

Since I am local to you, you can always swing by and I can show you how the data-logging cable works with the software.
