Resonator Removal best Practice

I am interested in removing my resonator, but wondering the best way to do so. Want the car to sound like the BMW performance exhaust as much as possible.

Should I have a muffler shop cut it out, and weld straight pipes back to the muffler?
Should I remove it and hollow it out (if possible), and weld back on?
Should I buy a different resonator and weld it on instead?

What is the conscenus on the proper way to do this?

if u want the cheapest route to get bmw performance sound i suggest looking into the MMW CS Muffler and get a res delete with that. It will be cheaper than buying the full BMW Perf exhaust. U really can't get any exhaust to sound like it without changing out the muffler.

deleting the res alone does absolutely nothing. not noticeable. get the MMW CS muffler and res delete and be done with it.

the shop should know what to do. theres two ways... Y pipe and then what I did... I posted pics in some post a while ago

I'm looking at doing the headers with a muffler delete while still leaving the resonator and secondaries in. When it comes time, I'll post vids if it turns out the way I'm hoping it will. If not, I'll post and cry about it until I get the MMW CS to quiet it down.

Ok, Muffler Shop is doing the Res Delete today!

Took everyone's advise. Taking to a professional Shop. Big Al's Muffler shop, quoted me $150 to do the custom pipe welding.

Whats inside the resonator?

Thought I would share what the resonator looks like on the inside. It is basically a straight through shot from the bigger hole to the Y Branch. There are baffles around the edges, but nothing on the inside. Removing my resonator did not make the car much louder at all. Just a little bit deeper. Still sounds stock, but better...
