Continental DW vs Sumitomo HTR III

I'm considering the Conti DW for daily driving, but the HTRZ IIIs have popped up on my tire radar. Both seem to get good feedback as far as performance for price goes. What do you guys think between the two?

I've had the HTR Z on my IS300 back in the day and they all developed bubbles (avoiding too late to avoid potholes, etc)

Replaced them with another set of HTR Z when i gave it to my brother and his eventually developed bubbles too.

I've learned to stay away from Sumitomo.

I'm actually thinking about getting Continental DWS later this year.

I don't really know much about the Sumitomo's, but you can't really go wrong with the Continentals. If I was in your shoes right now, I would go with the Contis..

Thanks. I've been reading the same thing about the HTR Z I and IIs, but with the IIIs , Sumitomo seem to have those issues behind them. IIIs are getting lots of positive reviews in the p-car crowd. Maybe too many people have had bad experiences with the I and II versions.

I'll most likely get the Contis.

Update:

I ended up getting a pair of Conti DW for the rear, but since I haven't really driven hard on them, I can't say whether it is that much better than the stock Bridgestone RFTs I had before. I could be the high inflation pressure, 38psi F&R, has something to do with the ride, but I'm happy with the fit. Great bang for the buck tire.

I'm running some worn PS1 on the front with no ill affects.

I guess I'll have to get a ride in my friend's 993 to see how the Sumitomo HTRZ III feel.

I'm a little late, but I think you made a great chioice. I had 2 sets of Sumitomos on 2 different cars in the past and they all wore out VERY early (7K on one car, 12K on the other)

Even with all of their alleged improvements and even if they promised me a rub and a tug everytime I drove, I'd never buy Sumitomo again, there's too many other good brands out there.

I have the DW's and I love them. They felt soft until I broke them in but now they provide a good ride and good handling.

Tirerack recently rated them the best Max Perf Summer tire in a comparison test and they are at the top of their surveys.
